Portfolio Manager – Colchester, VT

The Trust Company of Vermont is seeking a Portfolio Manager at our Colchester office to join a team of seasoned professionals in providing comprehensive investment management solutions to our clients. The right candidate has a broad knowledge of equity and fixed income securities and is expert in communicating portfolio strategy in an easy-to-understand manner. This candidate should convey investment expertise, be able to leverage technology, and work as part of our Trust Investment Committee (TIC) in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Job Location: Colchester, VT

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage the assets of high-net-worth individuals, incorporating the specific aspects of taxable, IRA, Roth IRA, and irrevocable trust account considerations.
  • Lead investment discussions in client meetings where portfolio strategies are described and client input is incorporated.
  • Conduct individual equity and fund level research in support of broader investment team initiatives
  • Using existing software, prepare comprehensive financial planning reports for clients, incorporating cash flow projections, retirement analysis, and asset allocation modeling. 
  • Execute trades across client portfolios, ensuring compliance with investment policies
  • Monitor client portfolios for adherence to investment guidelines, asset allocation targets, and risk parameters
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in supporting client requests and ad-hoc analysis. 
  • Stay up to date on capital markets, investment products, and industry best practices. 
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of client facing financial advisory experience with expert communication skills.
  • 5+ years of investment industry experience, with broad understanding of investment products and strategies for high-net-worth individuals.
  • Ability to perform fundamental research on securities using industry standard tools such as: Bloomberg, FactSet, CapitalIQ, and AlphaSense.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively learn and utilize new technologies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and high reputation in local community. 
  • Team player, willing to jump in wherever our growing company needs help and the ability to respond to ad-hoc requests in a timely manner.
